After finishing high school in 2017 at the cantonal high school Lugano 2, Nathan decided to take a gap year and moved to London where he did an internship at the organization' hope worldwide' which provides services to homeless people.
In 2018 he moved to Barcelona to study international relations and now he’s in Beirut for an exchange semester.
Nathan is investigating multi-ethnicity in the world on the basis of the languages that he has learned during the years. Thanks to his experiences in England and Spain he’s crafting great skills that might also help him in finding a place in the diplomacy world. Driven by his curiosity, Nathan is now in Lebanon and this will surely bring him enormous advantages with regard to his general knowledge and, in particular, the Arabic language. He already speaks fluently Italian, English, German, French, Spanish and Catalan.
His passion for photography and his curiosity for working with aluminum, plaster, and steel led Giacomo to what he now does for a living. Thanks also to his travels to African lands and the faces that inspired him, he aspires to convey a message through his critical eyes in the face of the problems and difficulties of the world.
These two components inspired his first creations, applying photographs to sculptural works.
Giacomo has just completed his studies in London in Business and Marketing. The New Flower in Africa Foundation (NFA), founded by his parents to engage in the education of young people in Africa through the construction of schools and beyond, has allowed him to travel extensively and come into contact with people from different cultures and backgrounds. Once he returned from Ethiopia, he became more aware of how lucky he is to have been born in this part of the world. The message he wants to convey is to be more human and sensitive to others. Giacomo recommends volunteering to young people who are looking for a unique and rewarding experience.
By training, Veronica Caggìa is a biologist, and after a couple of volunteer work related to her education (a volunteer in "Nature Conservation" in Ecuador and then a volunteer in "Sustainable Agriculture" in Togo), she approached humanitarian volunteering. Veronica felt the desire to offer something different from her strictly professional knowledge, to expand her skills to a level that was no longer purely professional.
She therefore left for the Asha Bhavan Center in Calcutta for the first time in December 2017 (see Associazione Amici di Dominique Lapierre in Ticino), where she has since returned and where she says, she will definitely return in the future. She simply set out to discover this center, which hosts young people with disabilities, without any particular expectations or goals.
Once she arrived at the center, she was welcomed very warmly and immediately felt part of the family: they integrated her into their routine as if she had been part of it forever and "this," she says, "is the best feeling you can have while volunteering." She took part in meals with the children by helping to feed and clean up at the end, participated in educational moments, physical therapy and all the free time creative and sporting activities.
